100% Calabrian Dottano figs - that's all!
For over 30 years, the Arlia family of Artibel has been creating fig delicacies from one of the world’s most renowned varieties which thrives in the Calabrian hills: the Dottato fig of Cosenza DOP. This particular variety is prized for its honey-sweet aroma and juicy pulp with very tiny seeds.
This Calabrian specialty begins with a careful harvest of superior Dottato figs from Artibel’s own farm overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea. The figs are hand-plucked during the last sweltering summer days, once they have started to sun-dry on the branches. After a meticulous hand-selection they are laid out on large mats to finish drying under the sun until golden and reduced to a third of their size. They are then minced and pressed together into this delightful cake.
