Circle of Love Lace Cowl Project
Join us as we cast on for the Circle of Love Lace Cowl! It's a one skein project, and we found the pattern knit up beautifully in Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light. (The sample here was knit with Tosh Merino Light with Glitter, in 'Barbara Deserved Better.') And we have so many lovely colors of reds and pinks—perfect for Valentine hearts!
The cowl is knit in a simple lace pattern, with all over lace hearts. It can be adjusted to be either smaller or larger. We added an extra pattern repeat (12 stitches) to make it a bit larger.
To get started, we made a swatch in the pattern, on size 5 needles. For a 24-inch cowl, the yardage required is approximately 160 yards of fingering weight yarn. We also added 4 rows of 2 by 2 ribbing at the bottom and the top.
The silver glitter in the yarn matched perfectly with the handmade sterling silver stitch markers, which really help to keep track of the lace pattern.
If you would like to cast on with us, the yarn, pattern, needles and stitch markers are available here. Or give us a call at the store (641) 472-1016 or stop by to our front window to see colors, pick up a copy of the pattern, or ask us any questions!
